Vessel and Empire State Building

During our last trip to NYC (last fall), MJ and I visited the Vessel and the High Line.  While we walked the High Line, I captured this photo of the Vessel with the Empire State Building in the background.  It was interesting to see it from a distance after being inside it a few minutes before hand.  There was also this weird reflection of the sun off the building behind it that caused an odd bright contrasting space towards the top of the Vessel.

High Line

If you ever get to NYC, check out the Highline.  They took an elevated train track that runs for a few miles through Manhattan and converted it into an elevated city park called the Highline.  This is one of the Highline green spaces with a pretty cool building next to it.  Not exactly what you’d expect in Manhattan.

Grace

I love traveling everywhere, but there is something special about Manhattan.  I took this photo in August during our last trip to NYC.  This is in midtown Manhattan on West 42nd Street.  MJ and I were just walking by and I happened to look up….this was the result.

New York Times

We had a great trip to NYC in August.  MJ and I explored parts of the city we’ve missed in past visits.  But one of our routine stops is always Gray Papaya Hot Dogs.  Close to the mid-town location is the New York Times building.  I’ve never really paid much attention to it in the past.  It’s simple, clean, beautiful!!

Looking Up

I don’t know about you, but my life has been very busy over the last couple of years.  And know it has gotten worse lately, for the obvious reasons.  I love photography and sharing my photos/thoughts with you on this blog.  But it can be tough at times to keep this updated.  With that said, here is a photo for you and a very short narrative.

This is another photo from the Vessel in the Hudson Yards area of Manhattan.  This is from the inside looking up.

Oculus Shadows

During our last visit to Manhattan, we visited the Oculus.  What an amazing spot!  It is basically a subway station, but that description doesn’t do it justice.  This is an architectural marvel on the inside and out.  It is so modern and all white throughout.  It’s big from the outside, but once you go inside…wow!!  There are three floors under street level with all kinds of cool stores and access to the subway platforms.  Just wonderful.

We explored the inside and the outside (I took a ton of photos of course).  I captured some traditional perspectives, but also some unique angles/composition like this photo.  I loved how the shadows fell across the sidewalk and street.

One World Trade Center

MJ and I are heading to Manhattan soon for a short trip.  I’ll get some work in and some fun in (via photography, site seeing & great food).

That upcoming trip had me thinking about our last Manhattan trip.  Therefore, this photo of One World Trade Center from that trip.

City Nights

I’m starting to work through my Chernobyl photos.  It’s going to take me a very long time, but I like what I’m seeing so far.  But I need to mix it up and not give you too many Ukraine photos in a row.

Tonight, I have a Big Apple sunset photo for you.  MJ was extremely good that night waiting for me to get the perfect photo.

Serenity

As weird as this sounds, I can’t remember where I took this photo.  It is either Rickets Glen State Park in central Pennsylvania or it is from Watkins Glen State Park in the State of New York.  I was taking water fall photos in both places the same weekend and I’ve lost track.  How sad is that???  My memory is getting really bad.

Brooklyn Bridge

It’s been way to long since my last trip to NYC, but I still have a ton of great photos from that trip.  I’ve always felt safe and enjoyed walking around the city at night alone.  I captured this photo from the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge on one of those solo photo walks.  I think it’s a unique perspective that you don’t see much.

City With A View

Its been a while since I posted a NYC photo and its been a while since my last visit to the Big Apple.  Maybe I’ll try to fit a visit in next year.  I know I can’t fit it into my 2018 travel schedule.  At this point, 2018 is full and 2019 is starting to fill up as well.  We’ll see what I can do.  By the way, I think this view from Brooklyn is amazing.

Big Apple Sunset

I’ve had photo sitting on my hard drive for a while.  Why I didn’t post it before is a question I can’t answer.  Maybe because I didn’t want to post tons of NYC photos too close together in the past…..  I don’t know.  I know that I like this photo and wanted to post it.  Anyway…. Here is it.  The Manhattan skyline at sunset from the Top Of The Rock looking south.
