Olympiyskiy

I’ve been absent from the digital world for the last 10 days, while Blair and I traveled to the Ukraine.  We spent some time in Kiev (beginning and end of the trip), Chernobyl, and a few small villages.  We spent most of our time within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, so you can imagine the number of future posts I’ll have from Chernobyl.  I took this photo from our hotel window at the beginning of the trip in Kiev.  This is their Olympic Stadium, used primarily as a football (soccer) venue.

Phoenix Center

Last fall while I was in Michigan, I spent an afternoon with an old friend photographing some spots around Pontiac.  We hit up this spot, which is an abandoned concert venue.  Although you’d never know this spot hasn’t been used for years.  Someone is paying good money to keep in in great shape even though it isn’t in use.  It looked like they could hold a rock concert the next day…..  So it isn’t your normal grungy looking abandoned location.  But it was cool exploring this spot.

Pennsylvanian Ball Room

This building is usually very restrictive when it comes to photographers.  But a few weeks back, the “Open Doors Pittsburgh” event allowed the public to have access to buildings that are normally off limits.  So I took advantage of that situation and captured some great photos all over downtown Pittsburgh.

This building used to be the train and bus station back in the day.  Today is has a number of executive apartments inside it and some of the larger common spaces are used as event locations.  So this former bus/train terminal is now a wedding reception venue.  I love it.
