Under Armour HQ

Now that our film (Shutter Rush – Baltimore Edition) has been released on Amazon Prime (in Canada and the United States), I can share this photo.  If you watched the film, you know we did some steel wool photos in front of Under Armour’s headquarters…. thankfully we didn’t burn up their property.  We planned to do something special at their facility because they helped sponsor us that weekend and for the film.  So, we wanted to add an Under Armour photo shoot to the video to show them some love.

As part of that photo shoot, I took a ton of images and video with my camera, iPhone and my drone.  This photo looking down at Under Armour’s property on the waterfront, is of course a drone shot.  Side note, MJ’s white SUV made it in this image and it was in the film a number of times.

Pioneer Square Station

During my time in Seattle, I had a packed photography agenda covering lots of the city and the surrounding area.  One of the planned locations was the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel station called Pioneer Square Station.  I arrived at this location at around 11pm and the place was basically empty.  The station is huge, so the 20 homeless people, 5 police and I had lots of room to avoid each other.  Although, I’ll admit that 3 different police officers stopped me for taking photos.  I thought that was interesting since the homeless can live in the station, but photographing the facility apparently isn’t allowed.

Anyway, this station handles the Sound Transit Central Link light rail trains, Sound Transit buses and King County Metro buses.  It is completely underground with entrances at the corners.  I don’t know about you, but I think there is beauty in the design of this station.

Fremont Troll

When I learned I was going to Seattle, I did some research for locations to visit.  When I found this site, I knew I had to make this one of my stops.  I knew immediately that this spot would be something my friend Kris would love.  So I am posting this here for her.  I hope she enjoys it.  Besides, who doesn’t love a troll living under a bridge?

About this sculpture:  This is the Fremont Troll (also know as The Troll or the Troll Under The Bridge).  It is a public sculpture in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.   The Troll is a mix media colossal statute, located on 36th Street at Troll Avenue under the north end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge (also known as Aurora Bridge).  It is clutching an actual Volkswagen Beetle (another reason Kris would like this).  It appears like the Troll grabbed the Beetle away from the roadway above.  The Beetle has a California license plate.  Four local artists created The Troll and now visitors are encouraged to climb on him.  He is 18 feet high and weighs 13,000 pounds.  In honor of the sculpture, this section of Aurora Avenue was renamed to Troll Avenue in 2005.

To demonstrate the sculpture's size, this is me standing in front of it.  As you can tell, it was a very cold morning in Seattle.

Under The Bridge

I took this photo last weekend under the Roberto Clemente bridge in Pittsburgh.  Due to the vast amount of light levels, I captured this with a 9 exposure auto-bracket set.  I merged these together with Photomatix Pro.
