I’ve always enjoyed photographing Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh. Something about this location calls to me and everyone else. Anyway, enjoy these two photos demonstrating a couple different angles.
Wonderful Morning Sky
I took this photo last weekend during sunrise in Pittsburgh. We got a good show from Mother Nature that morning.
Burgh’s Smithfield Bridge
It’s been a while since I did a photo walk in downtown Pittsburgh. This photo is from just before the pandemic. It is weird how time seems to have changed speed during COVID. Some things appear to be going faster and some slower. The pandemic has negatively impacted my photography opportunities.
Regardless, I always liked this photo with the city bus passing by as I took the exposure.
City of Bridges
Like my recent post of Heinz Field. Here is a video that I captured in the past and didn’t post. I like this perspectives of the bridges.
Pittsburgh Theater
Early in the pandemic I visited this classic Pittsburgh location. It was a former performing arts theater. Now its rotting away.
Clemente Bridge Sidewalk
Brad dragged me out of the house on a recent, very cold morning to take some photos, which turned out great. I didn’t love getting up at 530am, but we had a good time. Big thanks to Brad.
I captured this photo on the Clemente Bridge that morning.
Pittsburgh Fun
Back on November 19th, I shared the first image from this photo shoot. Here are the rest of the photos from that night and a behind the scenes video.
Clemente Sparks
This photo has been sitting on my hard drive for a long time. It was captured during the filming of our 3rd documentary…which never got out of editing room. Life got in the way.
I doubt anyone else has ever captured the Clemente Bridge like this before, but I could be wrong. It’ll be interesting to see if others have done it or will in the future.
Jason did a great job spinning that night.
Great Downtown
It doesn’t matter how many times I go to downtown Pittsburgh; I’m always impressed. I think Pittsburgh has one of the best downtown areas of all cities in the U.S. Do you agree?
I took this from the North Shore a few months ago.
Points
Today’s post is a photo from downtown Pittsburgh. This is PPG Place. Someday, I want to explore the inside of this building. The outside is amazing looking and for some reason, I’ve imagined the inside as being just an average business office. If anyone at PPG Place wants to prove me wrong, DM me.
Pittsburgh's Downtown
Here is a photo from last Sunday. I met up with David for dinner and a few photos. I captured this at dusk from the North Shore looking across the river towards downtown.
Wonderful Dome
This is the entry to the Pennsylvanian building in downtown Pittsburgh. This building was originally a train and bus station. Today it is a event venue, office building and has apartments inside it.
Cloud Covered Pittsburgh
How was your week? I’m glad the work week is over…. Happy thoughts the rest of the weekend is my only goal. This photo represents a past happy moment when Blair and I were hanging out at the Point State Park taking photos and just talking. If you look close, we’re the two people in front of the fountain.
Let The Sun Shine Through
I took this drone photo during the pandemic, but honestly, I don’t remember when. It seems like the last two years have been a blur. So, the context of dates during that time is just off in my head. Maybe that’s stress from work during this time, maybe it is just old age…. Regardless, it wasn’t taken last week.
This is downtown Pittsburgh right after sunrise.
Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
Pittsburgh was Mr. Rogers hometown and they have this statute of him along the river. It’s a nice tribute to him and his approach towards life. The city looks pretty good in the background as well.
Homer
The morning of New Year’s Eve, Blair and I walked around Lawrenceville taking photos of graffiti/murals. We found this painting on the side of a building. Homer’s hand is reaching for the donuts which if you look closely is a shipping container. It wasn’t the best mural we found that day, but I loved the Homer.
Heinz Field Postcard
I don’t think I’ve ever posted a photo of the stadium from the outside; despite the fact I’ve probably posted hundreds from inside. If I have, I don’t remember and I’m too lazy to go back and double check.
Regardless, I took this photo last July on a day with wonderful clouds. Frankly, when I look at this photo, my eye goes to the clouds, and I don’t really see the stadium as the area of focus. What about you?
Ben's Farewell
Tonight, is expected to be Ben Roethlisberger’s last home game with the Pittsburgh Steelers before he retires. I’m not a Ben fan, but I can respect his talent and accomplishments. After this season, the Steelers will be looking for their next quarterback, who they hope will be the next superstar. There was almost 20 years between Terry Bradshaw and Ben. For Steelers’ fans, let’s hope it doesn’t take another 20 years to find another Pro Bowl QB.
Pittsburgh Dawn
This photo isn’t from today (Christmas day), but it could have been. It has been overcast with no snow here for most of December. Regardless, it’s a beautiful city and photo. Have a great holiday weekend.
Happy Holidays
From my family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year.
At this time of year, I always go back to photos I took of this church many years ago with Brad and Dave. I like them because they are rich, and they scream winter holidays. But it’s also because I haven’t taken many holiday photos over the years.
