Stamping Plant Stairs

Our epic Detroit Urbex weekend was a great time.  I took tons of photos, played tour guide to our group and explored some unique locations.  A big part of the fun for me was the time I got to spend with my son.  He’s grown into a fine photographer who enjoys trying to outperform me.  And sometimes he does.  He keeps me sharp and striving to get better.

This is one of the stairwells inside the Cadillac Stamping Plant from that great weekend.  To view a larger version, click HERE

Christmas Eve Bando Processing

It was a nice quiet day at home today with the family.  We did a few things around the house, had a great meal, built some Legos (holiday tradition at our house) and I processed a bunch of photos from one of our 2017 urban explorations.  It was nice to just have a little down time to catch up on some photos.  Anyway, I found this image as I was processes these photos.  This is a stairwell from an abandoned nursing dormitory.

Stairwell

When we explored this abandoned school, I walked up and down these stairs numerous times.  It wasn’t until we were about to leave that I actually looked at them.  The sun shining in through the windows, the colors of the walls, etc…  It was just pretty.  Do you agree?

Baker Hall Stairwell

Here is another photo from our photo walk around Carnegie Mellon University.  The stairwell inside Baker Hall is very interesting and made for a great photo.  I must have taken photos of this stairwell from 25 different angles.  Anyway, I hope you have a great week.

Carnegie Mellon University

On a recent photo walk with Brad and Dave, we were looking for something unique.  Something that hasn’t been photographed a million times.  That’s when we decided to photograph CMU.  We got access to Baker Hall and I captured this amazing stairwell.  The security guard told me that it is the best stairwell on the campus and I think he was right.

Airline Phone Hell

MJ and I were trying to check into our flight for our upcoming trip and got an error message telling us to call the airline customer services.  Well, we’ve been on hold for over 2 hours with no contact except the same darn three airline ads playing over and over and over and over……  Airline Phone Hell!!!

So while I am waiting on hold, I decided to process a photo, which would bring calm thoughts to my current state.  Thus the picture of the stairwell from within the Heinz Chapel.  Something about this makes me relax.

Photo Technique:

This was a 9 exposure auto-bracketed set merged in Photomatix Pro with minor edits completed in Photoshop CS6.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Teaser:  I should have some great pictures for you soon from my upcoming trip, assuming we ever get off the airline’s phone hold line.

Stairs To No Where!!!

I really had no idea what to share with you tonight.  So I’m keeping it simple.  This is a picture from within an abandoned school in East Liberty area of Pittsburgh.  I just liked the railing and thought you might like it as well.  Let me know what you think.
