Philip Rivers

I’m ready for football and everything else to get back to normal…..  ugh!!  Until then, here is Philip Rivers from last season.  He’ll be with the Colts this fall….assuming they play next season.

Pittsburgh Under The Moon

I took this photo last summer on a clear night.  You can see the 3rd bridge (Rachel Carson Bridge) is covered for renovation.  I loved how this night cityscape photo turned out and really helps make Pittsburgh look great, which it is.

Holidays in the City

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.  This is of downtown Pittsburgh with the PPG Place building in the foreground and the Pittsburgh Christmas tree at the Point State Park in the background.  Of course, the photo also includes the three rivers (Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela).  Anyway, enough of that….again enjoy your weekend.

Philip Rivers

It’s been a while since I posted a football photo.  Therefore, you get the Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Philip Rivers.  I took this photo last season when the Chargers were in town playing the Steelers.  He looks pretty happy in this picture….why I don’t remember.

PGH Cityscape

I hope you’re having a great weekend.  We got a little snow in our area yesterday.  I took this drone photo a couple of weeks ago from downtown Pittsburgh (pre-snow).  Look how high the water is in the rivers…. Right up to the top of the river walk.  Anymore and they’ll have flooding in downtown Pittsburgh.

Inside Carrie Furnace

Per my normal routine, I’ve been hopping around processing photos from different trips, photo walks, locations, dates, etc…  Last weekend I was processing photos I took in 2016 from the Carrie Furnace.  That’s when I found this beauty waiting to be viewed.  This was inside the main building that supported the steel blast furnace.

Duquesne Incline

Here is a picture from the top of the Duquesne Incline looking down on the city of Pittsburgh.  I made two different versions and can’t tell which one I like the best.  What do you think?  Color or Black & White version?

Btw….Happy Easter.

Duquene Incline

I took this 7 auto-bracketed HDR photo last summer while on a photo walk with Dave and Brad Truxell.  This was taken at the top of Mt. Washington at the Duquene Incline Station looking down on the City of Pittsburgh, Point State Park, and all three rivers (Ohio, Allegheny, and the Monongahela River).  For those of you not familiar with Pittsburgh, there are a few Inclines (like trolley cars) that travel up and down Mt. Washington.  They are used everyday for individuals who live/work on or near Mt. Washington.  Tourist also use them as a cool little experience…plus the view back down on the City of Pittsburgh is amazing.  In this photo, you can see the Duquene Incline tracks running along the bottom of the photo.

Pittsburgh Day To Night

I saw some cool photos by a New York City photographer where he merged photos from the day and night time into one awesome photo.  So I went to the West End Overlook tonight with Dave and Brad Truxell to capture some photos for this type of shot.  This is my first attempt at a Day To Night photo.  It isn’t even close to the quality I’ve seen by others, but I thought I would share it anyway.  This photo is made up of 14 exposures merged into 2 HDR images, which I blended together for the final photo.  Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

Point State Park

This is a picture I took of the Point State Park a week ago.  This fountain has been closed down for almost four years, while they renovated and improved the fountain.  It just reopened recently.  I took the picture from the top of Mt. Washington looking down onto the City of Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh's West End Lights

Tonight, I present you a HDR panorama picture of Pittsburgh taken from the West End Overlook where the three rivers come together.  You can see the West End Bridge, Rivers Casino, and Heinz Field (this is where the Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers play football) along the river on the left.  Of course, you can also see The Point with the downtown behind it.  On the right, you can see Station Square and Mt. Washington.

I posted a similar picture in a previous blog post that you can see HERE.

http://brook-ward.com/blog/2012/12/1/lazy-saturday-night

This was taken about 30 minutes after the sunset with a long exposure to capture all the traffic lights streaking around the streets.  This is a 5-bracket set (+2, +1, 0, -1, -2) merged in Photomatix Pro and edited in Photoshop CS6.
