Palm Tree Reflections

Another photo from the Grand Bahia Principle resort near Tulum Mexico.  I took this photo this yesterday morning just after the sunrise, but before the morning shadows disappeared.  We’ve had a great time, but if I was rating this resort…… well, I’d rather not say.  Anyway, I always enjoy getting up early on vacation to catch sunrise photos and I try to get creative so that it isn’t always the same standard view of the ocean with a large ball of orange in the distance.

Early Morning Reflections

This photo maybe be a little to dark….  What do you think?  This is from the Ocean Coral and Turquesa Resort in the Puerto Morelos area of Mexico.  Blair and I got up super early to photograph the sunrise on the beach.  While we were getting in position, I saw the very early morning reflections of the palm trees in the resort pool.  So….I setup my camera and captured this beauty.   But I’m still not sure if it is to dark….

Packard Auto Plant Reflections

Here is another photo from my Detroit Urban Exploration trip.  This photo was taken on the 4th floor of this huge plant.  I couldn’t even tell you which building, because there are so many of them.  One of the buildings is at least 10 continuous city blocks long with lots of wings.  Anyway, I know we were on the 4th floor for this shot and I loved the reflections in the standing water.  Click here to see another photo from this location: http://brook-ward.com/blog/2014/8/14/detroits-finest

Dual Sunrise

As I mentioned in my last post, I was attempting to capture the sunrise over the ocean in new and creative ways.  Tonight’s photo was taken from the jogging track on the Carnival Dream.  On the right is the actual sunrise.  On the left, the sunrise is reflecting off the windows to the on board steak house.  I hope you enjoy this different take on common photography subject.

Reflections

Here is a small gift for you to get your mind of cold weather.  MJ and I took this photo (well it is a 5 exposure auto-bracket set merged together in Photomatix Pro 5 and Photoshop CS6) at around 6:15am as we walked around the Secrets Silver Sands resort in Mexico.  This was the first sunrise (and frankly first sun) we saw since the time we arrived.  The resort was fairly empty, which hasn’t been our experience on other trips to Mexico, so we had the beach to ourselves except for a few employees.
