Purple Vibes

Here is another photo from the Carnival Mardi Gras.  Many of the common spaces had these color changing light panels.  So, the environment changed colors all the time.  I’d often take multiple photos of the same spot as the color would change over and over.  I decided to share this purple version with you since MJ’s favorite color is purple.  I also really liked this space and we had cocktails in this location a few times.

Vik

This little church in the village of Vik is often photographed from numerous perspectives.  There are a couple of cool rock formations in the ocean off the coast of Vik (behind the church from this angle).  In the future, I’ll share a photo of this church from a different angle where you’ll be able to see them as well.  In this photo, I was trying to frame the church with the purple Lupine wildflowers in the foreground.  By the way, the Lupine flowers are everywhere in Iceland.  Anyway, I hope you like this photo as much as I do.

Newman

I’ve been trying to catch up on some of my photo editing lately.  I’ll always be behind, but sometimes I get into these editing modes and zip through a bunch.  With that in mind, I was in the editing zone yesterday and was working on some photos from the last Vikings game I covered.  This is Terence Newman, who is now a coach for the Vikings after playing for 15 NFL seasons.  He retired on September 1, 2018 and immediately became a coach.

City With A View

Its been a while since I posted a NYC photo and its been a while since my last visit to the Big Apple.  Maybe I’ll try to fit a visit in next year.  I know I can’t fit it into my 2018 travel schedule.  At this point, 2018 is full and 2019 is starting to fill up as well.  We’ll see what I can do.  By the way, I think this view from Brooklyn is amazing.

Focus Stacking

I’ve been playing with my macro lens recently in my yard.  I haven’t used this lens much over the years and I sort of forgot how narrow the depth of field is with it.  Which means that you can’t get the entire flower in focus, unless you use the magic of focus stacking.  So that’s what I did.  This photo is made from 7 photos focused at different spots and then I blended them together for this complete in focus photo of these flower buds.  This Focus Stacking technique creates some amazing detail.  Take a look at all the detail on the buds and the plant

Yard Flower

We did some work in our yard the last few weekends, including yesterday.  So today of course, we didn’t work in the yard…. We cleaned the screen porch instead.  After cleaning that area and the deck, Blair and I took some macro flower photos around the yard.  This was one of the first ones I captured.  I have no idea what type of flower this is….. so we’ll just call it Yard Flower

Renaissance Hotel Lobby

Today’s photo is from the inside of the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.  The hotel was very nice and allowed us run of the place.  We photographed the lobby, upstairs, bar, and from within a hotel room.  I’ll probably post the photo from the hotel room later.  It was a unique view out of the hotel room window.  That’s for another day.

Check out the video below to see a behind the camera look at how I captured this image.

Renaissance Hotel Ceiling

Last spring I went on a photo walk with Blair, Dave and Brad.  We explored some portions of downtown Pittsburgh.  During that morning, we took over the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel to take pictures from every angle.  The hotel staff and manager were great.  They let us do our thing without any problems and even took us up to a room to take photos out the hotel windows.  I may post a picture from that perspective/location at a future date.

This photo gives you a good look at the glass dome inside the beautiful lobby.  Side note, I just processed this photo last night.  So this photo sat on my hard drive for months just waiting for me to bring it to life.  And now you get to experience it.

Dover Beach - Barbados

During our last trip to Barbados, we stopped by this beach for dinner a few times.  There is a great Tapas restaurant there right on the boardwalk.  Both times we ate at this spot, we witnessed a great sunset.  This was my favorite of the two evenings.
