2024 F1 Miami Grand Prix

I’m still trying to recover from the 4 action packed days, sun up to sun down, covering this event. Here are a few track side photos from the Grand Prix on Sunday.

Hamilton The GOAT

The Sunday Series this week is of Lewis Hamilton. These photos were taken by me at the 2023 FIA Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. In the modern era, there is no doubt he is the Greatest Of All Time.

Christmas Lego Builds

As many of you know, we usually complete a family Lego build each Christmas.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have Blair with us this year, but MJ and I worked on it and provided him with updates…which he hated.  I also had a second build this year.  My buddy Jason gave me the Lego Mercedes F1 kit as a Christmas gift, which was very nice of him.

So, I built that today as well.

Our family holiday build is the Colosseum.  You can see both builds below along with some actual photos I took at the real Colosseum.

Racing Action - Miami Grand Prix

Here is a batch of racing action photos from the recent Formula 1 race.  Wow, it was a great weekend.  I am very thankful for the media access to cover great events like this.  I can’t wait until the next race.

Miami Grand Prix

I had a great time covering the FIA Formula 1 race in Miami last weekend.  Here are a few car/racing photos from that experience.  In the future, I’ll post some behind the scenes photos and celebrity photos.

Missing F1

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m ready for the 2022 Formula 1 season to start…even though the 2021 season just finished a couple weeks ago.  Here are a few photos I took last October at the FIA Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin Texas.

Sebastian Vettel - Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team

Valtteri Bottas - Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team

Sergio Perez - Red Bull Racing Honda

G Wagon

Last weekend, @teamshutterrush (minus one of our members, who will remain unnamed…..Jake!!!!) was in Pittsburgh filming the third episode for our Shutter Rush series on Amazon Prime.  If you haven’t watched the first two episodes, please do and while you’re at it, please rate it a “5”.

Anyway, we conducted an urban vehicle shoot with this G Wagon and a bright red Ford 150.  I thought the red Ford was ugly, but I know some people will love it and I have to admit, it really popped in the photos.  In addition, we completed some cityscape photography, urban exploration and a special photo shoot that is a top-secret surprise we’ll save for the film.   Good stuff!!!!  It was great to get out with the team and capture some photos since our last Shutter Rush location was photographed/filmed in early March right before the COVID lock downs.

This was my first professional vehicle photo shoot, which was good fun.  I’m not super happy with my edits on the photo below, but it was nice learning how to setup the vehicle, lighting and other vehicle photo tips from @jasonpohuski and I look forward to trying this again….

Self Portrait

I’ve seen this type of photo before and decided I wanted to try it.  Last night, I was on the North Shore area of Pittsburgh taking photos with Brad and Dave (I’ll post some of those pictures on another day).  In advance, I packed some extra gear so I could try this on the way home.  I’d call this a test photo….not the quality I’d like for a final photo.

I knew to do this right I’d need a helper with me.  That helper could drive the car while I sat in the back seat taking the photos.  From there I could adjust the camera settings and make sure I captured a great photo.  Because I didn’t have a helper, I did the best I could with the settings configured in advance.  I couldn’t adjust them while driving and I used a remote camera exposure trigger so I could drive without being distracted.  I figured I’d get some test shots, so that when I had a helper in the future, the photos would be great.  And I was right.  Now I am ready to really get this right.

Anyway, I think the test shots turned out pretty good.  Certainly, not perfect.  What do you think of the photo?  Leave a comment to let me know.
