Our Lady Help

This is an abandoned church in Pittsburgh called Our Lady Help of Christians Church.  I took this photo back in 2019, but just edited it within the last month.  This isn’t a very large church, but it is pretty amazing.  Just imagine what it must have looked like back in the day.

Ebenezer

1, 2, 3….quick post tonight….here we go.   This beautiful bridge is in Washington County Pennsylvania.  It is unclear when this popular bridge was built…..let’s just say a very long time ago.  It originally crossed the south fork of Maple Creek near Ginger Hill.  It was moved to its current spot in Mingo Creek Park in 1977.  It is a Queenpost design bridge.  Washington County PA has over twenty of these historic covered bridges spread across the county.   All of them are cool in their own way.

Bonaire Historic Site

We had a wonderful time exploring the entire island.  On the southern end of the island, there are two historic sites with around 8 to 12 of these tiny huts.  One set is painted white and the other is yellow.  These are former huts for the slaves that were used in the Salt Flats way back in history.  Unfortunately, even this beautiful country has a negative mark on their history due to the use of slaves.  I can’t imagine how terrible the working and living conditions were for these poor souls.

This specific location is also one of the numerous designated scuba diving sites around the island, all marked with a stone painted yellow and the dive site name on it.  As you can see, this dive site is called “white slave”.

Ebenezer Bridge

I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend, at least if you’re in the United States.  We had family over to visit, relax and hang out.  Yesterday we went to Mingo Park and had a great time.  I took this photo of Ebenezer Bridge inside the park….. it took some patience waiting for people to get out of the way (cars, bikers, walkers, etc…).  They all wanted their time on the bridge.

Ohio Theater

Last weekend, MJ and I spent time in Columbus Ohio visiting with some wonderful friends.  Our friends live in Chicago, we live in Pittsburgh, and so we meet in Ohio to hang out.  About three blocks from our hotel, was a very cool 100+-year-old theater called the Ohio Theater.  Saturday night we poked our head into the lobby just to take a look.  This resulted in a conversation with the facility manager, who invited us back on Sunday morning for a private tour and some photo time.

So you guessed it…..we went back on Sunday.  Chuck gave us the private tour of the facility, which included some behind the scenes access spots.  He also provided us with great history on the building and items within the theater.   As we followed Chuck, I snapped a bunch of photos.

I’ve had the honor of photographing numerous theaters in the past; I’d have to say that this one is amazing.  It is in the top 5.
