Liberty Bridge

This is the Szabadsag Hid bridge in Budapest Hungary.  Translated that means Liberty or Freedom Bridge.  It took 2 years to completed with the opening in 1896 with Emperor Franz Joseph putting the last silver rivet in the iron structure on the Pest abutment.  The bridge connects Buda and Pest across the Danube River.  It features art nouveau design, mythological sculptures and the country’s coat of arms on the sides.  Interestingly, this was the first bridge in Budapest to be rebuilt after being badly damaged in World War II.

Statue of Freedom

Some days I can come up with tons to say on these posts.  Other days, I don’t say much, due to my schedule, being tired, etc..  But tonight, I just can’t think of anything to say.  So, I’m telling you I can’t think of anything and therefore, you’re getting nothing of substance.  Sorry about wasting your time.

I took this photo of the U.S. Capital building dome last August.  I love the Statue Of Freedom on the top. 

Here is a fun fact for you…. According to Wikipedia, the cast iron for the dome is an estimated 8.9 million pounds.

NYC Art House

The last couple of times we’ve been in NYC, this Art House has been setup on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge.  You can see the bridge, the East River and Manhattan in the background.   I love this area of NYC at night.  The view of the city is wonderful.  I think it would be hard to find a better cityscape view anywhere else.
