Chernobyl Bumper Cars

In the city of Pripyat (just outside the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant), we explored parts of the city center during our visit.  They were getting ready for a city festival that was scheduled to take place and then the nuclear accident happened.  As you can imagine, the city got evacuated and the festival never took place.  Over thirty years later the carnival rides are still there abandoned like everything else.  Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and other rides just rusting away….

Como Octoberfest

For some people, October is a excuse to celebrate, drink beer and have fun….under the title of Octoberfest.  Honestly, I don’t know the history of Octoberfest and should probably look it up.  Maybe I’ll do that soon… or maybe not.

I took this photo in the past at a local Octoberfest in the town of Canonsburg Pennsylvania.  Perry Como was born and lived in Canonsburg, so they have a statute of him in front of the City Hall.  He doesn’t normally have a hat, but apparently he got into the Octoberfest spirit for the festival.

Pick A Duck

Here is something a little different for you.  I took this photo at a local Octoberfest last fall.  We had some friends over and decided to check out this festival.  On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being “Super Cool” and 1 being “Extremely Lame”, I’d say this specific festival would be a 3.  It only scored that high because we had our friends with us who made the day enjoyable. So I tried to make the best of it and capture some interesting photos, which wasn’t easy at this festival…..  Thus the close up shot of this carnival game…..
