Chernobyl School

On this Sunday, I have a photo for you that I took inside one of the many abandoned schools within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.  This specific school was in the city of Pripyat (the town right next to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant).  We explored this school and took a ton of photos of it and frankly everything else we explored during our 4 days within the Zone.

I Am Free Now

I took this photo in March (right before COVID blew up our world) on our urban exploration trip to Gary Indiana.  As you know by now, that was the last @TeamShutterRush trip which resulted in our 2nd film on Amazon Prime. This specific location was an abandoned classroom.

Urbex Classroom

This abandoned school is a great urbex spot in Pittsburgh.  But I haven’t been back since they found a dead body inside it last summer.  The dead body doesn’t scare me….  I just assume the police are keeping a closer eye on this spot.  So I’ll leave it alone for a while.   But I need to find some new abandoned locations.  I need to get out a take some photos soon.

Detroit - Abandoned Classroom

I took this photo last fall while I climbed through abandoned building after abandoned building in Detroit with Jay Cassidy.  This classroom was in a catholic school behind the matching abandoned St. Agnes Church.  I’ve typed up information about the Detroit trip in some of my older blog posts.  Feel free to scroll back and take a read.

By the way, you can see Jay’s version of this spot here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1003265633034194&set=a.327461460614618.91042.100000523010696&type=1&theater

English Classroom

This is one of the 29 different Nationality Rooms in the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning.  These rooms depict and were donated by the ethnic groups that helped build the city of Pittsburgh.  The building is a national historic landmark and the Nationality Rooms are just a few of the many reasons why this facility is amazing.

The English Classroom was done in a Tudor-Gothic style after the House of Commons.  The room includes a few original relics donated by the British Government rescued from the House of Commons following the World Ward II bombings and is the largest of the Nationality Rooms.

Abandoned St. Peter & St. Paul School in East Liberty

Today, Brad, Dave and I went on a photo walk around the Lawrenceville and East Liberty area of Pittsburgh.  We were basically on a mission to photograph anything interesting.  We all took the same basic photo of this classroom in the abandoned St. Peter and St. Paul School (same location, angle, POV, etc…) and I am looking forward to seeing how we all process the image.  Here is my version.  Hopefully, they’ll post their version soon.
