Christmas Lego Builds

As many of you know, we usually complete a family Lego build each Christmas.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have Blair with us this year, but MJ and I worked on it and provided him with updates…which he hated.  I also had a second build this year.  My buddy Jason gave me the Lego Mercedes F1 kit as a Christmas gift, which was very nice of him.

So, I built that today as well.

Our family holiday build is the Colosseum.  You can see both builds below along with some actual photos I took at the real Colosseum.

2021 Family Lego Build

As many people know, our family completes a Lego build together every winter holiday season.  Last year I put together a time lapse video of the build.  Several people ask me if I planned to do a similar thing this year, which I wasn’t going to do.  Based on those conversations, I did a short video demonstrating our progress.  As you’ll see, we built the Lego Grand Piano this year, which works as a player piano.

Happy Holidays

From my family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year.

At this time of year, I always go back to photos I took of this church many years ago with Brad and Dave.  I like them because they are rich, and they scream winter holidays.  But it’s also because I haven’t taken many holiday photos over the years.

Looking Back

I learned long ago that regardless of what I’m aiming my camera at, I always need to look behind me.  Sometimes the best shot is the opposite direction in spite of my pro-shoot plans.  This perspective is looking back towards the rear of the First Presbyterian Church.  I posted a photo of the front of this church back on November 29th.

Seafire Christmas

I took this photo last December while staying at the Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman.  You can’t see it, but just to the right (off the photo), they had a life size gingerbread house setup that you could walk into to get holiday favored and themed cocktail.

Where I Should Be Now...

Here is another holiday photo for you.  I took this last year at this time and if not for COVID, I’d probably be there again….  I miss you @seafireresort.  Someday I’ll be back to visit you and the rest of Grand Cayman.

PPG Place Tree

Now that Thanksgiving holiday is complete, I feel safe sharing Christmas holiday photos.  Here is one I took on a past excursion to PPG Place in downtown Pittsburgh.  I took this late in the day on a weekday so that I could avoid having a bunch of ice skaters getting in my photo.

By the way, the ice rink is elevated above the sidewalk.  So, I had to stand on top of a patio table to capture this perspective, which resulted in me getting yelled at by the PPG Security Officer.  No wonder why I didn’t get a Christmas gift that year….I was naughty.

Presby Again

Keeping with the season, here is another holiday photo from within First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh.  It’s a great facility and they do a nice job decorating it for the Christmas season.  I took this one from the balcony.

Holidays in the City

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.  This is of downtown Pittsburgh with the PPG Place building in the foreground and the Pittsburgh Christmas tree at the Point State Park in the background.  Of course, the photo also includes the three rivers (Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela).  Anyway, enough of that….again enjoy your weekend.
